Here at SERVPRO of West Evansville we are trained to help families after the storm has hit. But we also want to put tips out into the community to help you prepare for what is coming.

1. Before an emergency happens, shut off the water
2. Create an emergency kit with a battery-powered radio, battery-powered clock, manual can opener, flashlights, candles, extra batteries, matches, a first-aid kit, a fire extinguisher, bottled water and non-perishable food. Remember that flashlights are safer to use than candles
3. Be prepared for power outages and have all cellphones charged
4. Only use your phone for emergencies 
5. Stay indoors and away from windows
6. Check that loose items such as outdoor settings, umbrellas and trampolines are safely secured.
7. Park your car undercover and away from trees
8. Protect your pets
9. Have an emergency plan in place if you were to get separated
