Sump Pump Failure
1/6/2022 (Permalink)
Storm damage usually means water damage.
Did you know that when the electricity goes out during a storm there could be sump pump failure? It can happen! Here at SERVPRO of West Evansville we often get phone calls for just this reason!
During a storm many people don't think to check that their sump pumps are functioning properly, but it is extremely important that they do!
If your sump pump fails:
Be sure to get all of your stuff up off the floor. This is one of the easiest and quickest ways to prevent damage to your belonging. If you have furniture with wooden legs on it, wrap the legs with aluminum foil. This will keep the water from penetrating into the wood.
During a storm, your sump pump COULD fail...causing water damage.
If that happens, give SERVPRO of West Evansville a call, we are happy to help. We are ALWAYS here to SERVE you.

Did you think that all fire and water restoration companies are created equal?
Well unfortunately they aren't....That's why we wanted to write this post. When people have a "wet basement" or "sump pump failure" most of them call their insurance company or they google what to do. That's okay. We do that when we are looking for companies too. But just because a company is on google and can mitigate water from your basement does not mean that they have any credentials at all! Shocking and scary huh?
Here at SERVPRO of West Evansville we are IICRC certified and we are a certified firm. That might not explain much but what that means is that we have the highest credentials possible for water damage restoration.
We are proud of our credentials and we feel that our quality of work shows it.

Do you have Ceiling Water Stains?
1/20/2020 (Permalink)
Do you have Water Stain on Your Ceiling?
It's not good when you look up to see a spot or yellow ring or discolored blemish on your ceiling. This is especially a red flag when trying to sell or buy a home. The mark or spot is a visible mark of water damage in your home, which cannot be remedied with a simple coat of paint, as doing so can facilitate the growth of mold or mildew. Water stains should instead be repaired immediately in order to avoid further damage to ceilings.
What are some Common Causes of this?
- Clogged gutters. Full or clogged gutters are the likely culprit if you’ve experienced heavy or persistent rain.
- Leaky pipes could run from a bathroom, air conditioner, refrigerator, or dishwasher if one is located in the room above the stained ceiling.
- Caulking issue. If the caulking that surrounds your bathtub or shower deteriorates, water can leak down into the ceiling below.
Call a Professional
Let SERVPRO of West Evansville take a look. We are trained in the business and ready to serve you, your home, or office. We are able to check for mold and figure out where the problem started in the first place. We aren't here to just "cover up the problem." We are here to fix it.

Has water flooded your basement?
Nobody wants to be in that position, we know exactly how you feel. We built a home in 2017..weeks after we moved in..a toilet over flowed in our basement. Causing water to ruin the bathroom floor, carpet in the joined rooms and baseboard.
"We own a SERVPRO, we know all that we should and shouldn't do...how did this happen to us?"
As all water damages happen, when you are about to leave for a trip, get home from a trip, or have a house full of people. Water damage has no sympathy for your schedule. We had a home full of guests and we were faced with a huge problem.
We know first hand how amazing our team is. Our water was extracted, carpet was dried, and our home was put back together quickly. Do It Right Or Do It Twice
11/22/2019 (Permalink)
We get calls all the time from homeowners who have experienced a water damage from an appliance leak. At first glance it looks like all the water is cleaned up after soaking up the excess water with bath towels and that seems to have solved the problem. But does it really?
It is not always the water that you can see that you need to worry about. It's the water that spreads and gets absorbed into baseboards, cabinets, carpet, anything that can retain water.
When that water is left to set your water damage can turn into a mold issue when your water damage was not properly cared for.
Here at SERVPRO of West Evansville we have trained technicians who know how to mitigate a water loss to make sure that your water damage does not turn into a mold issue.

A Leak From the Past
10/4/2019 (Permalink)
At SERVPRO of West Evansville we get calls weekly that go a little something like this "two weeks ago we had a water loss and now I think there is mold".
As homeowners when we experience a water loss our first thought is to get all of the water up. So we grab towel and a mop to get all of the surface water up.
The key word there "surface water". If there is carpet, cabinets, wall, ect that the water absorbs into and does not get dried properly you could go from having a water damage to a mold issue. The issue is comes from the water that you can not see.
SERVPRO uses the best technology in our field to monitor, dry and restore material and contents to make sure that your water damage does not turn into a mold issue. Calling SERVPRO as soon as a water damage occurs to help keep mold at bay. Let us make your water damage look "Like it never even happened".

Don't let on damage cause another.
Sometimes water damage leaves behind more than wet furniture, floors and walls. After the clean up from a water damage, if not cleaned and dried properly, can leave you with traces of mold. Did you know most mold grows at a range of 68 to 86 degrees Fahrenheit? Since this is the temperature range for most homes in North America year-round, fungi growth is a problem in Fall and Winter as well as Spring and Summer. The best way to stop mold growth is to eliminate the moisture after a water damage since it is also the starting point of the growth. Call SERVPRO of West Evansville if you are dealing with mold! We have the personnel, training, and equipment needed to remediate your home from mold damage.
